Energy Resource Pack
If the United Kingdom continues as we are, all landfill sites in the UK will be full by 2017. In addition the UK also has a legal obligation under the EU Landfill Directive to reduce the amount of biodegradable material being sent to landfill.
John Pointon and Sons provide a sustainable alternative for landfill of food wastes and animal by products, through our current rendering facility and our forthcoming Anaerobic Digestion (AD) plant.
The installation of our AD plan proves our commitment to producing more energy from sustainable or renewable sources in order to limit climate change and become self sufficient with regard to our own energy requirements.
The energy resource centre will enable us to produce renewable energy from the food wastes that we are currently processing on site. This will enable us to diversify the business and to go from being a net energy user to a “green” electricity energy producer.
In addition, the new renewable energy resource centre development will itself create more up to 90 jobs over the next 3 years ,which will re-enforce our commitment to Cheddleton and to the local community.
Find out more about what we are planning to play our part in the prevention of climate change.
